Everyone fighting cancer deserves to have hope for the future.
Together, we can find a cure for ALL cancer patients, including those who have run out of conventional options, and give them another chance to beat this deadly disease. I appreciate your consideration and hope you will FalloRick (me) on my running journey from Victoria, British Columbia to Sault Ste. Marie, ON, in search of a cure.
Running has always been my life’s passion. I have participated in many marathons, including the Vancouver, Toronto, Chicago, Boston, Berlin Marathons and most recently, the TCS NYC Marathon on November 03, 2019. I am now ready to run the Marathon of My Life to save lives, starting at “Mile 0” in Victoria, British Columbia on April 13 th, 2020.
For the past 9 years, my wife Colette and I have played an instrumental role in our City’s Annual Terry Fox Run, and have witnessed the overwhelming generosity of caring people who share a common goal...finding a cure for cancer. By combining my love of running with this great cause I plan to fulfill a dream, running 100 marathons (4200 km) to raise money for cancer research.
I know everyone has been touched by cancer. I lost my own mother to lung cancer in October of 2013. I have been inspired by heroes like Terry Fox who have come before me, and am now ready to embark on my own journey for such a great cause.
As I run from Victoria (near my home town of Duncan) to Sault Ste. Marie (where my home is now), I will be collecting charitable donations for Cancer Research.
With Colette driving a support vehicle, I will primarily be running or paralleling the Trans Canada Highway with stops along the way for speaking engagements or events to help support
the cause. My targeted audience will be the entire population of Canada and going global through social media with a goal of raising $300,000.
